Let’s visit “Suzanne Valadon. A modern epic”

We invite the MACBA Friends to visit Suzanne Valadon. A modern epic, by the curator of the exhibition Eduard Vallès. 

The exhibition brings together more than a hundred works by the artist Suzanne Valadon (1865-1938), of which 48 can only be seen in Barcelona: oils on canvas and cardboard, drawings, engravings and plaster and bronze sculptures. A retrospective exhibition, it puts the career of a leading female artist in context: in avant-garde Paris from the 1910s to the 1930s. 

Contemporary, French and Catalan artists populate the story of Suzanne Valadon and exhibit the richness of the artistic atmosphere of the time, just as they expose the different kinds of interactions that took place in avant-garde environments and a woman’s social conquest of the status of an artist.
