Song for Many Movements: Scenes of Collective Creation
in progress

Participants in the 9th edition of the MACBA PEI will share their knowledge, experiences, songs, instructions, questions, choreographies and methodologies. This series of exchanges will allow a multitude of experiential journeys, everyday enquiries and a wealth of knowledge –both personal and collective– to cross-pollinate.

This event is presented as part of Song for Many Movements, an ephemeral experiment in which the ground floor of MACBA becomes a stage for encounters, conversations and shared listening. Curated by María Berríos and Sabel Gavaldon.

PROGRAMME
February 24,  2024
16:00 – 16:40 h
Lucía Taibo, Manuela Pereira, Rodrigo Yrigoyen, Antonio Monroy, Iris Torruella and Ximena Puppo.
In Liberation, Reparation: Transoceanic Reading Circle, connections will be drawn between various contemporary maritime realities impacting our coasts and global geopolitics. From the chaos caused by cargo ship Toconao spilling plastic pellets off the coast of Galicia, to the crisis sparked by the Houthi rebels’ direct action in the Red Sea, a narrative is revealed around how the sea becomes the scene of silent conflicts and environmental disasters. This amalgam of events invites us to reflect on the possibilities of visibility and collective action in the face of such phenomena.
Taking a performative approach, this reading circle seeks to construct a counter-narrative to confront these maritime issues. By integrating visual resources, current news materials and references to theory and activism, the aim is to explore paths towards reparation and liberation in the face of the injustices and imbalances present in the ocean and its commercial routes. The arrival of the Zapatista delegation in Spain in 2021 is also added as a disruptive element, one that enriches the dialogue and the possible actions that can be undertaken in this transoceanic context.
16:45 – 17:10 h
Dispositius Desarxivar
Thais De Menezes and Iagor Peres.

Starting from comprehensive modulations of intertwined paths and trajectories, as well as different fields of sound that eschew the idea of separation, archiving and archives are brought together as one.
17:15 – 18:00 h
If I must die
Wafa Aoun, Mariana Orantes and Música de Csq.

Taking two verses by the poet Refaat Alareer as a starting point, we will begin a performative dialogue on (un)translatability, connecting with emotions, words and sounds.
