Fito Conesa’s landscape with soul

‘I’m Fito Conesa and my video Helicon is in the exhibition of the MACBA Collection titled Poetic Intention.’ This is how Fito Conesa introduces himself as he tells us about the experiential and conceptual journey that led him to produce, in 2019, a work invoking the end of the world. ‘According to the Apocalypse or the Bible, seven trumpets will sound, four horsemen will come. And what do we see in the video? Seven musicians approaching a lake in the mining area of La Unión, in Murcia, in a vain, I’d say poetic attempt to detonate the end of the world. There are things in Helicon that somehow move me or make me vibrate in a frequency that goes beyond the human. To start with, the relationship with the landscape in a situation where we find ourselves in a place that has a kind of soul.’ Don’t miss the artist’s full statement. And there is still time to see his installation at MACBA.

Fito Conesa’s Poetic Intention
Fito Conesa’s Poetic Intention
‘Helicon’, by Fito Conesa, is an invocation to the end of the world. The relationship between music and landscape allows him, in this and many of his works, to craft statements whose meaning surpasses the conventional, coming closer to the mystical and the spiritual, enabling him to discover his poetic intention and share it with the public.
