With extreme simplicity, Àngels Ribé experiments with primary components like soap suds, light reflecting on ropes tied onto a tree or water finding its way through the sand. After a period in Paris, Ribé went to the United States in 1973. That same year, when attending a festival in Evanston, Illinois, she requested a wrench from the Michigan firemen and opened a hydrant. After 9 hours, in a fully naturally way, a river had been created. As the artist has stated, all she wanted to do was make a river that would flow into the sea. It was a liquid action created through cumulation and integration. “Land art, the art of the earth, has always captivated me”, explained the artist in a 1992 interview.
