Jordi Colomer. Façana Foto Festa Futur Fideus
Nomadism, periphery, the popular imaginary, humour, community, provisionality, fiction and utopia are some of the underlying themes in the works of Jordi Colomer.
Curated by Martí Peran, the exhibition Jordi Colomer. Façana Foto Festa Futur Fideus brings together sculptures, collages, installations, photography, video and live performances produced by the artist from the late 1980s to the present. By altering the chronological order, the exhibition creates a contamination between geographies, stories, objects and public participation inside and outside the museum.
This is the most comprehensive exhibition to date of the work of the Catalan artist, who represented Spain at the 57th Venice Biennale (2017), and brings together productions carried out in specific contexts in cities around the world, with a marked accent on the performative.
Three new works have been produced specifically for this exhibition: Abecedario argentino, 2023/2024, within the framework of the Fundació “la Caixa” Support of Creation’22 programme, in collaboration with the Institut Ramon Llull; Spanish Coast, 2017/2024, and El balcó, 2024, in collaboration with the Casal dels Infants del Raval. In addition, the work No? Future!, 2006, is presented in collaboration with the CCCB.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a publication that is to be presented when the show closes. A journey through Colomer’s creative universe, it will include texts by Martí Peran, Benedeta Casini, Ignacio Duarte, Carolina Olivares and Núria Gómez Gabriel, focusing on different aspects of the artist’s practice.
